Medieval Criminal Justice for Animals
Via Historia Civilis: Can Animals Commit Crimes?
This video is incredibly unsettling to me. I work in criminal defense and now I'm wondering how much of my profession will be discovered as superstition in the future a la Joseph Henrich. Granted, there is a lot of obvious vestigial artifacts already: the black robes, the constant "your honor", the placing of the judge in the middle on a raised dais, etc. but it's not clear what the full extent of that is.
